Log-on Instructions - 2006/01/15 10:24
Robert, I've heard from some CMs that they haven't been able to log on, even though they have a log on name and a password. It may be that they have forgotten one or the other, or maybe there's another problem. Could you respond to this message and tell everyone what to do to correct the problem? Do they need to create a new account? I know that some people would like to respond to the forum but can't because they haven't been able to log on. Thanks.

Nancy

Sorry for the delay in answering this! I have been very busy of late. Generally problems with logging on are the result of entering an incorrect username or password (Upper-case-lower-case *does* matater!). It is also sometimes the case where a user has "signed up", but has not "activated" their account by cliking on the verification link that is forwarded to them in a welcoming email. I personally know of several cases where users have signed up, but have provided an incorrect email address, which keeps them from receiving the welcomeing email, and the verification link which is required to actually create the account.

The account creation process goes like this:

1) Create an account from the HOME page of the site. The link is under the "login" box

2) Make sure you supply a correct and valid email address during the sign-up process.

3) Check your email until you receive a "Welcome" email, and click on the link supplied in that email to "activate" the account.

4) Go back to the Home page of the CM site and supply your chosen username/password in the "Login" section

If you have problems with this, Sandy or I can manually create an account for you, and email you a username/password (you can later change the password, but the username cannot be changed).

Please, If you have signed up and can not log-on, let us know via the "Contact Us" page, and we will help you anyway we can

Regards,

Robert Parker

Thanks Bob! Today is the first day since Christmas I've been able to reply on the web-site no matter how many times or ways I logged on it still showed me as a guest noy a member. I appreciate all your work. Thanks again, Vicky

If you are having trouble getting the system to recognize that you are a registered user *after* logging in with what you *know* to be a valid registered username / password combination (be *sure* you *double check* the state of your CAPSLOCK key - you wouldn't even believe how many problems are caused by this!), You might have a "stuck" cookie or "session variable" stuck in your browser's cache.

This will keep the system from properly recognizing you as a "logged in " user, and it *does* happen (more so if you are using Micros*ft Exploder than if using Firefox, or another "better" browser!)

You can correct this problem by "clearing" your cookie relating to this site, and / or clearing your browser's cache, and trying again. Instructions on how to do this vary according to your browser, but are very easy to find on the internet using Google.

Hello everyone, Haven't heard from anyone lately but I see people visiting the web-site. How is everyone? Hope the world is treating you allright. Everything here is good. It's 55 degrees today, and I just got back from a walk. It feels like spring. It has only snowed twice this winter, which is a great thing as far as I'm concerned. Delanie has bought her own place and we gutted the interior, so we've been keeping really busy. Her plans are to be done and moved in by the end of April. I don't know whether she'll run out of money or we'll run out of energy first. It's only two blocks away, so she's not going far. Write soon, I'd love to hear from you guys. Vicky P.S. Thanks Bob for your help in getting back on!

Vickie, good to hear from you and our other friends. I am glad that your winter is going well. Even here in Michigan the temperatures have been warmer than normal. A lot of the Canadian Geese that normally fly south for the Winter, just kind of forgot to do it this year. I am sure sooner or later it will all catch up and then misery will be everywhere. Trust everything is going well with your family. We are having a year to remember, but I will not go into all the details. You all take care now. Wes
