Responsibilities include; annually facilitate the revision/update of the school goals, improvement strategies and planned expenditures which are outlined in the Single School Plan for Student Achievement; recommend the updated Single School Plan to the local governing board for their approval; assist in monitoring the implementation of the approved School Plan, making modifications as necessary; participate in discussions regarding the school goals and improvement strategies helping keep them measurable and based on an analysis of verifiable state and local data; participate in discussion to ensure goals, improvement strategies, and proposed expenditures are legally compliant and support the district s goals and LEA (Local Educational Agency) plan.The council will also seek input from all advisory committees and gather information about how the schools improvements are progressing. LCFF is the Golden State s new way of doling out money to schools. The new allocation formula, the brainchild of Gov. Jerry Brown, is claimed to be a financial equalizer for schools, particularly a way to bring schools with a higher than average enrollment of socio-economically disadvantaged students.The new program has been praised and ridiculed, but regardless of the comments, schools will have to comply with the new orders.
