Re:CM Reunion - 2005/10/20 09:46
Hi Vicky, well being a 2nd mom has been alittle harder this year..there mom Carol Mandrell (was in CM's) died in Feb, & her youngest Kimberly has basically shut down. So, I've been working on getting her to open up & let it all out... The only person I really stay in touch with is Wes Ponsford. He is great, but works way to much. I also try to touch base with Cheryl Bell at least once a year & she hasn't changed a bit, like all the rest of you she is a mom & grandma! I am going to make a real effort to stay in touch with more CM's & this venue is great to do just that. I hope more people start coming around. I live in Sylmar, CA, divorced, have 4 cats & 1 house mate. My dad died 3 yrs ago & my mom is 89 and has end stagg alzhimers. We sold my parents house on Allen about a year ago & that was hard! My oldest sister Edie who called that home for 60 years decided to have 1 last family reunion before we said our good byes to the house & family came from all over the US for one last swim! I worked at Motion Picture & TV fund hospital for 8 yrs & then my position was illiminated. I am a hospital software analyst/programmer. For the time being I am helping my sister with my mom while looking for a job... I think that sort of brings us up to date!! I'll be praying for your kids too... Talk soon Vik

Hi vik, it sounds like your job as a substitute Mom is hard. Trent was like that when his Dad died, I didn't think we'd ever reach him. When he was in Teen Challange he wrote me a letter, it was an apology for all the anger and resentment towards everybody (especially himself) that he'd kept inside for 15 years. I finally realized that there wasn't anything I could have done to make it better. It took the Lord. I will be praying for you and Kimberly. You need to post Carol's death under the rememberances, I'm sure a lot of people don't know. When you talk to Wes and Cheryl I said hello. I sent some pictures to Sandy for the web-site, and there are some of Cheryl and Ronnie. Sorry to hear about your Mom and Dad. I remember when my parents sold the house we grew up in how hard iy was. Write soon, Vick

Where was Wes Ponsford anyway? I thought he was coming to the reunion. Wes was in the CMs after my time, but his family and my family were good friends when I was growing up. My father and Wes' father used to go fishing together in the High Sierras, and I learned at Grace's funeral a few years ago that she did her student teaching many years ago at the school where I work now. Small world.
Vikki, I don't know how old Kimberly is, but have you considered finding a grief group for her? Sometimes hospitals have them.
Paul, hi there. I realized I didn't get to talk to you at the reunion, just that one hug hello. But I enjoyed our talk on the telephone and was happy to see you there. It was neat to see your mom on Saturday night too. She's such a neat lady. I remember the note she sent to to my stepmother when my father died in 2002. I was very touched that she wrote.
Hey, Vicky, I think things are picking up!

Hey, Robert,
How come I'm still a junior boarder? I would think that my age at least would make me a senior! I know I'm older than Vicky.

Re:CM Reunion - 2005/10/22 11:54Wes Ponsford had to work, he really wanted to be there. He is doing great & moved into his moms house with his daughter. I'll give him a call & see if he has had any time to check out this site yet.
I talked to Rochelle who is Kimberlys older sister (both in there early 20's) & she let me know that Kimberly called her after I talked to her & that they talked, cried, laughed & talked some more. Rochelle asked Kimberly if she would come & stay the night with her, she did & the healing continued! God is so good, I'll be getting together with my girls tomorrow! Thanks for the prayers on this one, God answered quickly.

Nancy, You are still a "Junior Boarder" because the forum software assigns you a "rank" depending on the number of messages you have posted. At present, the rankings are:
1-4 Posts is a "Fresh Boarder" 5-9 Posts is a "Junior Boarder" 10-19 Posts is a "Senior Boarder" 20-39 Posts is a "Expert Boarder" 40-49 Posts is a "Gold Boarder" 50 or more Posts is a "Gold Boarder"
Another interesting fact about this forum software is that you can upload your own avatar (small picture) to accompany your post.! Just prepare a 70 x 70 pixel picture in .gif or .jpg format that is less than 40kb in size, and upload it to your "profile" in the Forum (check the top line of the Forum lists for the link).
If you don't want to upload your own picture, you can use a "generic" icon, a selection of which is provided on your "profile" page.
Regards, Robert
