wife Carol - 2005/11/09 10:48
I guess I'll be second. My wife Carol has been battling 2 types of Cancer for 13 years now. First one she has beaten, Melonoma, the second one is breast cancer and is still fighting it. After several surgeries to remove the areas it still keeps coming back. She is on continual treatment and has developed a condition called Myasthenia Gravis probably due to some of the treatments. I have a good job and good health insurance but the financial burden is very heavy. We are being considered for a new position in Little Rock Arkansas where the pay would be substantially higher. We are praying for guidance and healing.

Hi to my family of friends, Just to update you about my wife Carol. Her condition is deteriorating and is having major side effects to the treatments and medication. Stroke-like sypmtoms and heart irregularities among others. Plus it is very difficult to keep working and take care of her properly. The financial burden is becoming astronomical. Your prayers are appreciated and needed. Thanks for being there. Wes

Wes, I'm so sorry to hear the news of Carol's condition. I continue to pray for the Lords comfort and blessings to pour down on you. Hope your family was able to have a blessed holiday season. Try not to worry about the financial aspect, everybody takes payments. You have other things more important on your heart and mind right now. Love and Prayers from one of your family of friends,Vicky

Wes, I am so sorry about Carol's condition. I am holding you both in my heart and mind. I am praying that something will work out to enable you and your family to tend to her needs and be with her in a way that you all need. I know we are all a long distance away, but is there anything else we can do for you? Do you have hospice working with you? I cannot say enough good things about hospice. I've dealt with two different ones, once with my aunt and also with my father. They were wonderful and helpful in so many ways.

Nancy

Re:wife Carol - 2006/01/10 12:31
Hi Nancy, thanks for your caring and concern it is really appreciated. I realize you probably do not know my wife more than a chance meeting in college and church back in the early 70's. I know none of us is really prepared for all that life throws at us, yet we know that some very tough things are coming at us at sometime or another. My parents passing away was tough to deal with, but at some time I realized that since they were both Christians they had prepared themselves as best they could. My mom was only in her late 70's when she passed away, which was too soon, but my dad was almost 90 when he died. He was to the point where he was looking forward to going to Heaven and not being a burden on his children. I guess if I had a choice it would be the latter. Like many of us, my wife, Carol, is in her middle 50's and far from a normal age to pass away. We are fighting the Cancer and other conditions with everything we have, but at some point we have to realize that all we can do as people is exhausted and that God has to do the rest, whatever His Will is. We are to that point. We do have hospice helping with some wonderful nurses, and some very sophisticated IV and Chemtherapy type treatments. The days are long and the nights very short. She only sleeps two or three hours per night. I have been getting very little more than that. I think I can hold out physically, but the exhuastion is taking it's toll on both of us, and no matter how much health insurance you have it is still not enough. I am in the insurance business and have some of the finest health insuranc available, but there is so much that is not fully covered, it is just staggering. By the time we are done with this struggle I might have to declare some sort of bankruptcy to give me time to regroup. For now the expenses are taking their toll on everything, but I cannot just say NO to the needed treatments etc. I know that the Good Lord has his eye on us, but even with that you wind up with many doubts and "why us" type questions. To answer your question, yes we have needs. Prayer is the biggest one, and a few thousand for medical bills wouldn't be bad either. We are not sure what the near future or long future holds, very up in the air, but we have to do like Pastor Lee taught us years ago, about the "cycle of victorious living" Commit, Trust, Delight, and Rest. Thanks to all our "Family of Friends" which you are. We will keep you updated as we know more. Thanks again for being there. It definitely helps. Wes
