So there is downward pressure on Wyoming's coal sales (and revenues) even as the mineral remains part of the national energy portfolio.What the next governor - whether it is incumbent Matt Mead or someone else - must focus on is how to move Wyoming's economy away from its dependence on coal. But it does nothing to prepare Wyoming for a different future - and that future is closer than legislators might like to think. And some of these rules will protect one of the state's biggest economic assets - the outdoors.
