Vicky,
I can tell that you are very upset, and I understand your frustration. Of course, I am sorry that you received an email that distressed you as as result of your participation on this web site.
This is as good a time as any to remind all visitors to this site of a couple of "truths" about internet communities. By and large, they are open to the public, and you should expect all kinds of behaviors to be encountered in such communities. While we might like to think that the nature of this ittle spot makes it immune to hurtful things, Vicky has just seen evidence that this is not always the case. It is for these reasons that the website has several procedures and practices in place to shield participants from unpleasant behaviors:
1) Posters to this forum must be registered, not so they can be vetted, but so inappropriate posts can be policed, and abusive users prohibited from posting.
2) Properly registered users of this forum can enjoy the "buffer" of avoiding direct "private" communication with any visitor to the website by communicating with each other via the forum. The public nature of the forum, allowing all to see what is posted, tends to discourage inappropriate postings, and help to keep the discussion civil.
3) Your email address, which was collected when you registered/activated your membership on this site, is not available to the public. Posting your email addresses, or phone numbers, or physical addresses on this (or, for that matter, on *any* public forum) exposes you to potentially unwanted communication from others.
None of that is intended to be a criticism of you, Vicky, or of any of the other trusting souls who have posted such information on this site. It is only intended to help educate all as to the realities of "online" life.
I have no interest in seeing this forum degenerate into public squabbles, and encourage each of us to think carefully before we post. Often, emails received in private are best dealt with in private, in order to keep from escalating an already unpleasant situation.
Vicky, if you would like to change your user name to one that does not reflect your email address, just complete the "Contact Us" form and make such a request. I will be happy to set up a new user name for you, which you might find helpful if you have, or obtain, an alternate email address. If you need a Gmail invite, to set up a new email account, I'm happy to provide you with one.
Love, Robert Parker Christian Minstrels Reunited! Webmaster, Emeritus
